I have the "Woods™ Real Tree™ Camouflage Camp Cot" from Canadian Tire. It's heavy steel and extra wide. It's rated for 300 lbs. PM me if you want to buy it, I don't use it and it's collecting dust.
I don't actually know my buddies weight. I'm 6'2" 200lbs and he's considerably bigger than me. I'm guessing setting him up with an at capacity bed could spell disaster. Thanks though.
The outfitters series from Cabelas sounds like the ticket. Hopefully he can budget it.
Cabela’s Outfitter XL or Cabela’s Outdoorsman XL. 400 and 600lbs capacity respectively.
I have the big cabelas one. I find it's so wide the middle stretches and it's more like a hammock after a few days.
I switched to a hotel cot with a real mattress.
I work hard, but am over 6' and under 300 haha.
I find the smaller cots are better than the big ones.
But seriously, the hotel cots are the best. I always pack one in the enclosed trailer hunting camp or when we camp out of guys' shops. For boat trips I run the smaller cots now.
I bought the Outfitter XL, then traded it for a regular Outfitter as it was too big for me. I add a memory foam topper on top of the cot to make the cot more comfortable and decrease the hammock effect. I had issues with it being uncomfortably hard on my shoulders it was so tight, but I'm only 215-225lbs depending on the month.
