Re: Rocksteady 2020.. Year of Corona

Took the last few days off.. too hot for regular elk movement where i hunt, they have gone nocturnal.

Big storm coming tonight supposed to last for a day or so. Supposed to bring rain so hoping the rain and break in the weather will get them back onto their normal routine, plus the storm will help hide that stupid full moon..

At least you’re getting out there! 3 more days to wait for rifle season...
If we’re not supposed to eat animals, how come they’re made out of meat?

Re: Rocksteady 2020.. Year of Corona

So after taking 2 days off due to heat, sat in my blind from 0600 to 1700.. saw one wt doe.

Got drizzled/rained on for first 90 minutes then it went dead calm til about 200

Checked my cam and a lone 6 point came in yesterday morning around 930... argh..

Saw a few deer on the trip out. Passed up a spike wt in velvet at 30 yards on the drive out.

Hopefully the rain and drastic temp drop puts the elk back on a normal schedule vs nocturnal.

Snow in the hills around elkford this morning and supposed to drop to -1 over night. Hopefully it gets the elk moving for you.

I think they are moving too much.. into black, damp timber where you cant find them

Another slow one. Sat at the cam from 630 til 1400.. zip.. zilch. Nil.. nada.

Elk came in last night around 130 am.

Drove up a different road. 4 muley does.

Same road way out. 3 wt does and a big 2 point, but he can wait, i am focused on elk..

One more day for archery.. no pressure

Re: Rocksteady 2020.. Year of Corona

Yesterday was a cluster.. went to feed horses at 530am.. found one of the 4 down and dead..

Went to my cam, checked it (all elk in dark) sat there fir an hour, then had to come home to deal with horse.

Wife was very upset, so j took today off to make sure she is fine.

First opening day of rifle that i have missed in my whole career

    Hallelujah!!!!!
Good news, saw my first elk of 2020 and it was a bull
    ..spike that is...

Set up on the river in the dark, lots of bugles and cows squelling on the private land.. the only elk i saw was the spike who walked out to the rivers edge around 730 and 2 does
