Only saw 3 wt does and 3 cow elk last night. No bugles..

This morning i was dog tired from getting up early and hiking so much, so had a sleep in laid back day.

Out to a different spot tonight

Well, been getting behind on posting..

Been out every day and most evenings.

Seen probably 10 wt bucks since i posted last, lots of does.

Elk... thats another story. Been seeing a few herds, a few bulls but no luck confirming 6.

Seens to be post first rut now.. not much bugling and when they do ots a half assed single tone with a couple chuckles at the end. Bulls are not returning calls with bugles..

Oh well, got my limit of grouse this morning, so not going home empty handed..

Definitely not post-rut, Rock. Things are going off from the Okanagan to the East Kootenays.

Things have dropped right off here in the EK. The screaming bulls are not as active as they have been, from my experience lately.

well, it finally happened.. found a 6 at first light.. 300 yards..

And missed

Spent 6 hours grid searching and not a single drop of blood.

Things have changed though. Saw a 4 point wandering all by himself yesterday around noon. Later on the drive out i saw a herd with a big bull but could never see his points properly.

They are moving during the day, thanks to the moon going away and temps dropping..
