    Texas Creek Hunting Closure

So have you all seen the post on fb about the Texas creek closure? Notice has just been posed, this is to protect the sensitive grizzly habitat.

“Sekw’el’was has made the decision to enforce an emergency closure from July 31 to November n30, 2020. We have been collaborating eight the St’at’imc Chiefs Council, T’it’qet First Nation, Lillooet Tribal Council, Lytton First Nation, and Nlaka’pamux Nation Tribal Council, and Nlaka’pamux Nation Tribal Council to make this happen.”

No usage, no hunting, no access for anyone other than “Access for St’at’lmc membership remains open for Traditional and Cultural Activiities”

There is a copy of the letter posted as well as the notice on the post.

No, I have no idea what you are talking about
    1. Human over population
    2. Government burden and overreach

They will, no doubt, be using their prohibited black rifles to “traditionally harvest” their spirit animals.

Just another nail in the coffin of freedom here in BC. This is no longer about “equality”. It is now about revenge.
If we’re not supposed to eat animals, how come they’re made out of meat?

    Re: Texas Creek Hunting/Usage Closure

I can't link to the fb post for some reason but I can insert some of the wording:

    Note from the original post:

"Known grizzlies live in this watershed, in particular, a female with two cubs that are in dire need of protection; this female is known to be one of the only reproducing females left within this declining, endangered population. The area that is left within the Texas Creek watershed, identified as core/critical habitat, is intersected heavily by roads, coupled with heavy recreational use (we have been tracking ATVs and motorized vehicles for the past years now). In addition, these roads fragment the grizzly habitat, and there have been obvious impacts and behavior changes on the female grizzly as she attempts to feed her cubs in the meadows/by the lakes that ATVs, etc. drive right through. She has been displaced and forced out of foraging areas by recreational traffic pressures (keep in mind that much of the "vast area" within this watershed is rock and ice, as well). The Biological reasoning behind this closure is too strong in evidence to not proceed with this action; this grizzly population will decline into non-existence if we do not step up to make changes. We encourage further dialogue and ideas as we develop long term plans to protect and help this Grizzly Bear population to recover within this and other watersheds."

At this time no confirmation that RSTBC and FLNRO are even aware of it.

If FLNRO is not backing this attempted closure then everyone should carry on....

The Cascades District is apparently who manages that area, however their office out of Merritt is closed due to covid. I left a message just to get some information, will see if I get a response.
