    Glassing rain shelter

    Hey all

Im tired of getting wet in the rain while glassing for bucks. Even with full rain gear I find after a few hours of really bad rain my gear gets a bit damp. Might just be sweat as well. Anyway I’m looking for a quick pop up glassing shelter. I haven’t been able to find anything that’s manufactured other then just sil tarps. I’m just wondering what everyone else is doing and how it works for them?

    Thanks

I use a military canvas tarp, best for rain but heavier to carry.

I have to vote for a sil tarp and one of the old style thin foam sleeping mattress (like, 1/4" thick). You can cut the mattress down if you're not also using out for sleeping. Gets you off the ground and keeps your ass dry. Sil tarps are usually pretty easy to rig.

My Siltarp is always in my pack whether it’s glassing for bears, sheep or deer.

I love my 5' camo umbrella. 14"x2' folded up.

Always carry poly tarp on day trips... Too heavy for overnighters though
