Re: Blocking roads in region 3

Lots of roads getting deactivated the last couple years in reg 3 where I mainly hunt. Talked to excavator operator last year doing work. As money is available contracts come out for bid. May go years between work in a certain MU then several years of work. All hit in miss he said.

Reading this thread brings to mind the not too long ago Douglas Lake blocking’s.
A bunch of you self entitled peckerheads wanting more access restrictions must have exclusive access and want to exclude others from accessing crown land that they are legally entitled to.
    Boneheads!

Who cares if people drive to the end of a road and turn around again. 99% of the time the critters are long gone as soon as they hear a vehicle coming. I'd rather fight to keep access open for everyone because little by little we are losing it. That is my only complaint.
bullshit do you live on the mountain? because i do cut off access and you cutoff unregulated harvest.period...what killed all the salmon? (nets stupid)what killed all the moose? not pine beetle but moose for sale.

Nobody is trying to exclude others from accessing these areas; they are just wanting to restrict the ease of access . This is an effective management tool. It is not necessary to be able to drive trucks or ATV's into every basin or up every watershed. GD

Exactly . Deactivated roads save alot a wildlife from pitlamping poachers. Put on the boots and hike. If you can drive in there then usually theres nothing worth shooting during the day anyhow..

And the roads aren't enough, then guys need to build illegal and damaging quad trails into moose meadows and the alpine so they don't have to walk or God forbid pack an animal out.

Take a look at the road density 40 years ago in region 3 vs now. Nobody is taking away anything, they are giving us more good hunting grounds and reducing pressure on the populations. In many places in region 3, it’s hard to find more than a few kilometres of gaps between roads.
