Is the basic, old 40channel CB just a dinosaur now? Do people still use these?

No idea, but I do know CB is useless if you're looking to stay safe on a logging road. Not even truckers on the highways use CB any longer as far as I know. Closest thing to trucker talk on the highway will be on VHF, one of the LAD channels, depending on which province you're in. LAD-2, 158.940 around these parts....

Believe there is a recommendation on HBC for a dealer in Langley or somewhere in the Lower mainland does anyone know who that seller is ? Will that dealer sell you a good handheld set up that is programmed for all the logging and rural back roads ? And what can you expect to pay for such a handheld ?
    Thanks

I certainly would be interested in a good radio for sake of backroads safety. I go a long ways back, much further than I would ever care to walk out from in the event of vehicle failure. I would also like to know what radios are good value and what channels do hunters follow for such events. Never know when someone might get their truck stuck/broken or need assistance.

Finland is a neutral country - but the guns point to the east.

CB is still used in the lower 48 but never really was a Canadian thing except among the radio clubs/nerds

I have no personal experience but an acquaintance is a radio nut and he speaks well of them.

Uniden smh250d is an old radio and can be programed for FSR, I have 2 of them and they are good for about 20 miles depending on terrain. They are a 100 channel radio.
