Conservation Officers ticketing off-lease doggies in WMAs

Saw this lots on low tide in Boundary Bay. People just walk right out on the beach with their dogs and they can't control them and they mess with the shorebirds.

Before you play fetch with Fido this season, please make sure you are in an area that allows off-leash dogs.
Conservation Officers have issued several $115 tickets to dog owners whose pets were roaming free in Wildlife Management Areas (WMA).
Five tickets and two warnings were issued in just over an hour on #WhiteRock beach, in the Boundary Bay WMA, while CO’s at #Parksville Bay beach also issued a ticket.
Wildlife Management Areas can have restrictions on activities that can impact wildlife and habitat. Certain beaches, like Parksville Bay, are closed to dogs entirely during March and April to protect migrating Brant geese.
Please obey all signage. To learn more about WMA’s, please visit: https://tinyurl.com/wglsood #WMA #BCCOS

The dogs aren't the problem. They just do dog stuff. The owners are to blame so they should pay.

    $115.00 isn't much of a deterrent.
