A person has a 1986 16 foot Canaventure boat for sale. Is that risky business to get into a boat that old?

It can be very pricey if its full of dry rot.
A veteran is someone who, at one point in his life wrote a blank check
Made payable for an amount of 'up to
and including my life'. That is Honor, and there are way too many people
in This country who no longer understand it.'

Same as a RV, if the floor is spongy stay away, i owned a 18 ft Canaventure that was in the same age group, it was a very stable boat.
I feel more like i do now than i did before i got here
The motor also needs to be considered ...
And the leg, if an I/O. Also stringers and transom. Any cracking in the gelcoat should be treated with suspicion.
All about the price and your personal skills to fix things.
Sounds like you need a NEW boat.... Might happen to have a 2018 Hewescraft 24’ OceanPro for sale. That will definitely suit your needs.... lol
I would say, "Save your money and buy an aluminium boat." I had a friend that bought a Double Eagle that had some transom rot and the further he got into the repair the deeper it went. In the end he had a very nicely finished boat. However, he said that he would never do that again.
