I agree. In summer 2018 I was buying and I was looking at Tundra and F150. I wound up going with the F150 and the Crewcab with 6.5ft box was one of the reasons. Other factors was that the aluminum body was appealing to me. I seem to keep vehicles a long time and I hate rust. I also know a few people that have had the bigger ecoboost for a long time, really like it and they’ve had zero problems with the motor. A nice combination of economy and ample power when you need it.
I started out wanting the Tundra but in the end it just didn’t make sense for me to spend more money and get less of what I wanted. Maybe in the future.
Finally came in and picked it up today.
I don’t know if it’s the same for tundras but Tacoma gas flaps need to be lubricated we have like 10 Tacoma at work and some have no gas flap anymore. Might be different for it’s bigger brother
I have owned 5 Toyotas in my life. I still Have two 99 forerunners one standard and one auto . My auto is my daily driver now , i keep my standard with 420 th km on it for bush running . i would love to get a tundra but why cant they make a motor that doesn't suck gas like a Pig ! if that wasn't the case i would already have a Tundra. There is a sweet 2001 for sale near me . i might go check it out . The first Gen are suppose to be Bulletproof .

Great choice! I’ve had a 2001 Tundra and now a 2011 Tundra. Truly bulletproof and no issues at all for both of mine. I would definitely get another. Was also waiting for an engine upgrade but until then still worth the extra fuel to get a tried and tested 5.7!
