    Moose or Elk

    Hi
I have 2 weeks that I can schedule off work for hunting. Normally I go deer hunting but this year I want to try something different. I am looking at either going for moose up north maybe ft Nelson or elk in the kootenay. Which would you go for and why? I have only had one moose draw where our group did get 2 moose but LEH seems to be few and far between for me.

The elk where I hunt (4-24, 4-25, 4-26) have really seemed to decline in the last 4-5 years. That said, we went out just for deer last year after the elk season was over and I saw more bulls in a week then I saw the previous few seasons. My buddy saw a couple decent herds too.

They are still there, but not an easy tag to fill when you are
    starting from square 1.

Allot of areas can get super busy, but like anywhere if you get off the roads and away from the cutblocks/slides you can drive or quad into, you can at least get away from most hunters.

But, the country is beautiful and there are other species you can chase. Its usually not too hard to fill a deer tag. Lots of grouse around and some good low odds mountain goat hunts if you are into that.

I used to bow hunt further south 4-3, 4-2 and never had issues finding elk down there but I have heard the same thing from a friend that hunts down that way in regards to decline in elk numbers

Hunt elk and make your own moose meat.
buy a cow shoot in and leave it in a field for a week
the hook it up to your 4wheeler and drag it around the yard for 3 days
then load it up in the back of your truck and then throw dirt and 5 gallons of diesel on it
    then have it butchard
    wella prime A moose meat

I would go to the Peace region, hunt both elk and moose

I was going to suggest the same. just as good a chance at getting either in the same location.
