OK here's a question for you all: take note on the times on the above T-cam pics: take into account this area is within about 1 km from town - would you think this buck is dead meat? Or given the fact that he knows the chase is on (he looks to be running in the pic), do you think he got away? Everyone feel free to chime in based on your observations and experience..

If the deer has a two minute head start and knows the chase is on than I say the deer is still alive.

No experience with the specific topic, but I have lived around lots of cougars and they tend to perch up somewhere and pounce rather than give chase.
