The whole hike out all she could talk about was “when’s the next trip” lol.

To her credit, she does check goat cams with me quite frequently. A mountain girl in the making.
Lol the boys better look out...

Yes,that’s the mega horn with stove jac that the back bear shredded on me a couple months ago. I had it all patched up by a lady that builds canvas boat tops, I just have to seam seal it.

I have a small backpacking stove I can use in it, but I think I’m going to try out a g-stove for this fall. The g-stove is small too, but some of the other stoves weigh 70 pounds.

    Stories would be appreciated!
The first time, we were walking up a alder choked creek bed on our way to goat country, just my dog and I. I was watching my footing because of wet/slippery rocks, when my dog let out a growl. When I looked up, there was a lone grizzly feeding about 75 yards in front of us. Luckily we were able to back out without the best knowing we were there. Without the dog, who knows when I woulda finally looked up.

The second time woulda surly been bad. My dad and I were sheep hunting, our tents about 30’ apart. It was 5am, I was outside my tent crouched down making a coffee, my dog laying beside me, dad still sleeping in his tent, my rifle still in my tent.

My dog all a sudden was up in a charge and blasted off behind me. In that second as I stood and looked behind me, there was a grizzly coming in, on a lope (I don’t think the bear knew we were there) headed right between our tents, about 100’ out. In that second, the bear spun a 180 and booked the opposite direction.

If it weren’t for my dog that time, the bear woulda been right beside me in a few more seconds. The wind was at my back, the bear was moving in direction of the wind. It woulda been quite a surprise for both of us.

Speaking on grizzly encounters, my gf had the same sheep tag 2 years later. In the exact same spot, while videoing some rams, a grizzly come roaming over the hill about 80 yards from camp. I wonder if it was the same bear

Also funny, between those two trips, seeing the same ram in the exact same spot. The second time, he was barely legal by curl I think, but only 6 years old. He followed us around for 2-3 days, this year he’d be 9, I don’t imagine he’s still alive.

holy smokes, that really does look like the same bear. when u compare the utube video to you new pics, same markings and face. awesome pics and funny to see same ram, same bear, same place haha. We had a caribou once follow us for days on a sheep trip, a young female. The mom got eaten by wolves and were still near the site. In the end she dumped us for my dads friend and followed him for a few days.

Oh no sorry, the photos and video are the same bear. The run in we had 2 years prior, I wonder if it was the same bear. Both bears and that ram in the same spot were all from the same camp spot. Kinda neat.

The dogs in the photo, the one in the far top left is my dads dog, the other two are mine. The middle dog has been my partner for the last 6 seasons, hasn’t missed a trip, and has saved my arse from grizzly’s twice. I kinda feel this last trip might be her last big sheep trip, she turns 8 in September here but really shows it. She’s about 70-75 pounds and use to pack 12-15 pounds of dog food on sheep hunts, then packs garbage out. This trip I put 9lb’s of food on both her and my younger dog there (3 1/2 years old), and I packed the rest.

A few years back, my old girl there packed out 17lbs of sheep meat for me, I couldn’t imagine going on a hunt without a dog anymore.

Wish her the best on which ever she decides, if the stock fits her i would just stick with the 22-250, use to use one quit a bit and a few of my buddys kids used it as well to start.
Yes like to have a dog around as well better company then most people lots of the time.

The wife and I were out for a bike ride tonight and this guy stepped out in front of us. Not a very good pic, but he had a nice size rack and body.
