    Is this a rub?

    A good sign at last? Is this a rub? <br><br>2 m tall, found along side a decommissioned highway on some river flats. Deer trails and scat around the vicinity.<br><br>

    ^^^^I was going to ask, as it is a good sized rub...moose even? I have seen quite a few mooserubs on lodgepole pine, which by the pic that tree appears to be...

    I'm no expert, but I think MD rubs are a little bit lower to the ground than that.
    I wouuld say that belongs to a taller animal.

    Is it all around the tree? This looks too perfect to be done by an animal IMO.

    That is definitely a rub.
    That was done by a very pissed off bull.

    I've seen a number of rubs where they will call to their cows and half assed rub a smaller tree. I have screamed back and forth with a bull who was rutted up and angry. Your picture is exactly what he left behind. I have seen a number of rubs like that in other areas I hunt.

    From experience, smaller trees with rubs have been around gathering areas where the bulls try to entice the cows to them.

    Bigger rubs like that seem to be in random spots (from beds to feeding areas to gathering spots). Probably whatever the spot the bulls choose to battle or really make a stand.
