I know campfire arguments come close to blows over ‘favourite’ deer rifles but it seems to me some of these old cartridges have earned their right to stay in production while many others have come on with great fanfare and then disappeared off the shelf.

If you like what you have, no reason to change. If you are shooting deer at 100 yards it doesn't really matter what you use.

No chance of the 6.5 CM disappearing though.

Any way you'd like to cut it, the 6.5x55 is a very competent cartridge. As is the 6.5x47, 6.5 SLR, 260 Rem, 6.5 Creedmoor, 6.5-284, 6.5 PRC, 6.5 Wby RPM, 264 Win Mag. If old historic rifles turn your crank, great. They make some modern rifles in 6.5x55 too, like the Tikka or Sako. Apples to apples, in a modern rifle, the 6.5x55 will beat the 6.5 Creedmoor in velocity by 80 fps with any bullet weight. Perks of a 6.5cm is a huge variety of rifles and ammo to choose from

I got interested as the latest whiz bang that the gun writers are talking about is the 65 Creedmore ,but began to wonder what advantage it actualy offered other than just having something new and different.if money wasn’t an object,I think I’d buy a Tikka ,but the Tradeex Swedes are beautiful well made rifles and offer great value for the money.I. See Thompson Center has a 6.5 x55 in their single shot rifle lineup,no doubt the low recoil and accuracy would make that a nice fit

Damn you RBF, I just bought one, and some brass. For $250 I can take a risk that it won't shoot for sh*t.

My buddy is just getting into hunting but has the bug pretty hard. I'll take a scope off one of my other rifles and do some load development to see if it is a shooter. If it is, all he needs to buy is his own scope and he's in business.

If you’re talking about t the Tradeex rifles,I never had one that didn’t shoot and I think for the money, you get excellent value( I’ve yet to meet another Swede owner who didn’t share this opinion) ...The biggest problem with Swedes is they work so darn well,it’s dificult to justify buying other rifles( I do anyway, but go back to my 6.5 x 55.) Got a Husky 9.3 x 57 when I need ‘thump’,hits like the hammer of Thor

Not poking here just using your train of thought. With not caring about what these cartridges do at 700 yards then there is no real difference between the cartridges you are asking about. Not enough to measure.
The difference comes when you stretch them out. And when you go to the store to buy ammo.
