9' 6wt, floating line and a Black Woolly Bugger on a size 4 2XL

You would be surprised how eager the forest chickens take to fly hooks.

You would be even more thrilled with the fight they put up on against a 6wt rod.

Try it before you knock it.

The plus is you can enjoy catch and release - not so much with a .22 or shotgun.

The tough part is getting a clean back cast in the forest - more practical on the better dirt roads.

I finally potted one a couple days ago with the most unlucky 10-22 known to man kind. It was kinda nice to finally put on on the board with the damn thing there'd been a few misses in its recent past. But the grouse folded from a shot right through one side of its breast Maybe I should upgrade from its $20 4 power "scope". lol. Its weird it'll shoot OK quite a bit but just not consistently.

I've got a Savage mk11 bull barrel that shoots bugs eyes but when its time to grab a two-two for a hunt the heavy Savage usually takes the back seat to the light and handy 10-22 as its deer I'm focused on anyway.

If it possible, why would it be illegal? Harassing wildlife? Chickens go crazy after insects.

Hmmm Remington 597 heavy barrel..with Leupold vx2....2x..10 power that was changed @ Korth industries so its crystal clear/ sharp image at 50 yards ..works like a damn on rabits too.

I have a Ruger 10/22 and a Ruger American 22LR bolt action. I have yet to try the 12ga for grouse - maybe next trip out.
