    Fishing Skaha lake

So I am heading up to Penticton for a hunt. In between there may be the possibility of fishing Skaha. My hunting partner has a cabin on the lake which we will be using and I'm looking for tips on fishing it. I do have a small downrigger and kokanee gear as well as access to a 12ft aluminum. I'll be using a minn kota 30lb trolling motor.
We will be there the first week of October and we are near the south east side of the lake.

    Looking forward to the info!

    Thanks,

Bring a fly rod. Find some fat fall carp. Crayfish and sculpin flies.

I'd be looking for some smallies, I hear good things about Skaha
Unfortunately, the rifles are getting lighter because we are getting heavier and more unfit as a society. This is the key to the mainstream acceptance of the short magnums. - Nathan Foster

I've seen some pretty sweet photos of smallies on the Fishbrain app. If I get the chance I will, but opportunities will most likely be very small to get out.

Lots of smallmouth in Skaha. You're in the right area if you are staying at the south end.

Casting crankbaits or jigs towards rocky shallows is your best bet. It's been a few years since I've fished Skaha, but if I remember right there are some shallows in the middle (south end of the lake). Lots of smallmouth and pretty easy to catch. They are nice and scrappy too!

Send me a PM if you like...

Fished it a bit at ok falls and there were tons of bass. Took em all under a float and worm. Nothing big for me but was just off a dock. Sunset was by far the most productive.
