Fishing Saanich inlet and Brentwood bay?

I’m currently visiting my sister and her husband, they live right on the water in saanich inlet directly across from that rock quarry. They have a small runabout but they’re just getting into fishing, so don’t really know where to go. I wondering if the inlet and or Brentwood bay are worth trying for salmon or cod? I bought them some basic gear, but not too sure about taking their boat out too far.

any suggestions from you fine islanders? Pm is fine if you prefer. Thank you all

Not sure of regulations. Check them. I fished all around Shepards Bay across from Willis point. All along that side for ling and springs back in the day. Probably closed for salmon, but you may be able to go for lings or rock cod. From sheppards bay to the cement plant was good for jigging.

Saanich inlet has non retention for chinook salmon plus finfish closures in some area's. Better check the regs.

Back in the day it was great salmon fishing. I remember 30 lb springs caught at the entrance to Todd Inlet or over against the Quarry wall. Big Cowichan Coho as well.

I suspect you could still catch flounder. We use to do pretty well just putting a bit of herring on a hook and dropping it to the bottom, which was a ways down.

Many of us cut our teeth on salmon fishing with wire lines and plainers on putter boats in Brentwood ,and they could easily create a Pink Salmon recreational fishery in there if they wanted to...be fantastic ,no matter what the weather you could always fish Brentwood

Have fun out there but I'm pretty sure Chinook fishing is closed in the Inlet as of August 1st.
