At first glance, I believe that everyone would have this reaction. But then thinking about hunting a bit more, we come to the realization that the mount on the wall stands as an EBENEEZER (a monument to ponder on, and why it was put up in the first place). Every hunting success has a back story. This particular buck has a story worth mounting. It was by far not my first buck. We all have stories like this one. Usually your biggest mount doesn't have the biggest story. PS. That hide is now 24 years old. It is a piece of art, made my my late grandfather (made it to 99). If you look closely, you see that there is a second half to this mount to the right. But this thread is not about stories; that will be for another day. This thread is for us to break our notions of what we think is legal and illegal. Collection of wisdom.
To continue the basal burr convo, this is a MD I took a few years ago, it was a 4x5 without the brows or burs but where do these stand as far as counter points go regarding out convo. If it was a 3x3 main frame how to these factor in? The nub on the base is 1'' exactly, then burr then brow.

Legal 4pt, as the first tine would count as the brow.
The basal burrs/spurs, assuming they do make 1", are right in the hair, so field judgement of those would be nearly impossible.
thats legal it`s a dam white tail it does not fork
yup both bulls are 6 pts
I think its a whitetail as well and the sheep is only 7 years at best, usually there is a change of plane with every growth ring , that's why I am calling it 7, with a full side view it might be full curl.
