    Fly in food cache

We are doing a fly in hunt for sheep/caribou last week of August. We are going to set up a 6 man Kifaru tipi as our base camp and spike from there. Planning on caching some extra homemade dehydrated food and some non perishables etc. We will likely come back once maybe twice over the 10 days? The lake has no real trees to speak of. Just wondering what others use for bear proof storage. Obviously we will be weight conscious so nothing ridiculous.

Thanks in advance of any tips or ideas.

    Chuck

Where did you find the fence for purchase?

Not sure where you shop but Gallagher brand B10 is a D-cell powered fencer
Make up a kit or Gallagher has them too

Have also used a plastic olive barrel with screw on lid and sunk it in a lake
Never say whoa in the middle of a mud hole

I have the UDAP Food Fence. I ordered it directly from the company. Works really well. Packs one hell of a wallop!

On our sheep hunts we always leave the extra food and camp items at our drop-off/pick-up spot. We put all food packages into ziplocks and then put everything into a waterproof rollup sack. If we can we will hang the sack as high as possible in a tree or find deep moss and bury it deep under moss and sticks. So far we’ve never had any caches touched by any animals.

This spot has no real trees, i think the fence is the way to go.
Do you guys use the fence for your meat cache as well? That’s also something I’m trying to sort out.
