Try and find a light action rod, typically Kokanee are very soft mouth and medium rod may tear hook from their mouths. When hooking the release on the down rigger don't lock in to tight.

That rod might actually be a bit soft if your going to multi purpose the rod. Too soft for trolling doesn't work as the fish won't be able to get any extra bend from the rod. I would look for something in a 9'6" especially if kokanee is the main target. Run light 8-10lb test and reel similar to a 4000. I run this setup for coho all the time and it works extremely well. Coho and kokanee are very similar
what action would you use for 9.6 rod for kok and bows?
