    Braised bear shank

Braised Bear Shank. Region 5 black bear braised in garlic and white wine.

Utilized Hank Shaw's venison recipe for this one. Basically did it exactly the same except added about 30 minutes to braising time. https://honest-food.net/braised-veni...recipe-garlic/

Used to fight with shanks, always used them but a pain. Now low and slow they are one of our favorites.
Will try this recipe for sure. Simple and no doubt fantastic.

Shanks in a slow cooker with your favorite recipe is good eating. It just falls apart.

Shanks are likely one of my favorite part of an elk or deer now. I do a lot of osso bucco and its high on my list of favorite cuts now in the freezer.

Looks like a good recipe to try!

If you like shanks and like vietnamese pho try this one https://www.themeateater.com/cook/re...ank-pho-recipe

I have one more deer shank in the freezer labelled for this. If I get a black bear this spring I will definitely be using it for this.
