Good quality hiking boots for my daughter...what to get and where?

Okay folks, I am looking for input. My daughter lives in Prince George and loves to day hike around there. She might see some days in the field hunting with me. She needs good ankle support.

I just moved back to BC after a few years in Ontario so I am a little out of touch as to where to buy stuff. I live in Princeton now so we will be shopping either in the Okanagan or the lower mainland.

She has finished growing so I'm not worried about spending a few bucks on her boots.

So say a 7" to 9" rise, a good grippy sole, uninsulated, laces... I personally like leather for durability but what else is good? And what stores would likely have a good selection in stock?

One store I've shopped at and always recommend is Fisher's Hardware in Vernon. See Larry for boots. He's got a lot of experience in the mountains chasing sheep. Sells Meindl brand and maybe others as well.

Yes another vote for fishers in vernon...great service and he carries meindel and hanwag. He has womens meindels for sure, but not sure about women's hanwags.
Stop in for the old school customer service.

Check out Plae’s. They’ve been tough as nails. Only shoe my son has outgrown not worn out. And he’s done a lot of hailing in them with me.

Scarpa makes a good womens boot, especially in the higher end models.

learning the hard way . i would never have boots shipped to myself . you have to try them on and walk around the store . every boot make is differnet we all have differnet feet i have owned mendel and now i have hanwags.. its was a real chore with sending boots back when i ordered some other brands and i had to sell one pair that were new that were not quite right . i learned the hard way . thats all im saying . i finally found the time to hit that one store in Kamloops for my hanwags . best decsion ever .. also you get to pick up a few things you need like insoles or boot treatment stuff. . remenber to bring a couple differnt kinds of socks. . they usally have them there but something kinda bugs me about putting socks on that how many differnt pairs of feet have beenin that week . lol. i think i have made a review on it here somewhere ..

I love my mendiels from Larry at fishers! Would not trade them for anything.
