    Catching Kokanee with Mealworms

We had a blast catching kokanee thru the ice. I was stubborn and did not want to switch to mealworms as I had my own corn I was determined would work. As soon as I switched, I was catching kokanee one after another.

Here's the link to a video I made that day using mealworms.

I find pink maggots are usually the bait of choice for koks

I find your background music very irritating to the point I stopped watching before the video made the halfway mark.

If you can find someone who raises maggots for sale....then buy them. It's all we ever use in the Kootenays for Kokanee.
They'll never end hunting...may make it illegal, but they'll never really kill that way of life!

I use wax worms and nothing but for rainbows and limit out almost every time I hit the ice. I guess I can't see why they wouldn't work for Kokanee, I think they are about 2x the size of a maggot though.

Fly maggots are soft, off white in colour, easy to hook on, but easy to unhook as well, about half inch long and tapered at both ends...a bit pointed at one end. Available in local stores that stock fishing gear, but not commonly found everywhere.
