    Compact binoculars

Hi ... I'm looking for compact binos. Something like 8x25 that I can take with me fishing or on a trip to the zoo, that kind of thing. Something waterproof that will only be used during daylight and not for any important hunting trips.
So, not looking to spend crazy money.

    Was thinking something like

    KOWA BD 8x25
    MINOX BV 8x25

Anyone have any suggestions or own one of the two above?

    Thanks!!

I have had a pair of these for years. I use these for everything except hunting.

I had a pair of 8x30 stieners for years. Used them for everything. Wore the armoring right off. Never an issue with them. Gave them to my son and he sent them off to steiner and they came back looking brand new. No charge. Now his hunting binos, over 30 years old and some hard hunting and still going strong. Light and compact. I'd still have them but ended up inheriting a pair of leicas. Still miss the size and weight of the stieners.

I opted for 8X with 32mm objectives for my "truck bins. A little bit better in just about every regard except weight. They'll run about 1/2 a pound heavier. Plenty light and compact enough for what I wanted, but maybe a tad large if you want to stuff them in a pocket. For under 200 bucks, absolutely no complaints at all.

Maybe something like this may not be a bad idea...?

I have B.3 8x30 and they're phenomenal, but maybe a bit bigger and pricier than what you're looking for? I often take my B3s and a small Kowa TSN-553 spotter for if I need to see closer. Depending on whether I'll be doing quick scanning or sitting and glassing.

I've heard good things about maven. I'll give them a bit more research. Thanks for the suggestion.

That'd be a top notch choice - love my Meopta Meostars (Cabela's Instinct HD) 10x42s.
