If you are looking at Nikon, the Fieldscope lll is good glass. It performs above it's price point. You should be able to find a good used one for under 1k. The 60mm is a decent size for packing as well.

Have a look at vortex viper spotters good entry level spotter for the money. I’ve got vortex razor binos and picked up a used razor spotter last Christmas. Happy with both but found a set of swaro el range used that I couldn’t pass up.
There’s a used angled vortex diamondback 80mm objective on Kijiji right now, it’s in Kamloops asking $550. New at Cabelas shows $730
Thanks again fellas !
As far as Vortex products. Razor Is there top line I think then which is next inline. Diamondback or Viper ?

Razor
Viper

Heard that the three different lines are made in three separate countries I think maybe I read it in this thread . One is made in China one in the Philipines the other in Japan .

It's probably been mentioned already, but I put binos on a tripod for the first time last weekend.
Life altering experience, I tell ya what!
The only thing I like as much as trucks, is guns.

8x42 Diamondbacks.
I have a viper 15-45x65 spotter but my tripod doesn't have a great head, so it's tough to pivot for glassing. I turned the spotter sideways and rested the binos on top of it for glassing, then used the spotter to confirm buck/doe status.

Do you fellas pack a full size spotter on hike in trips or a compact spotter . i think most compact spotters come with a 50mm objective lens . Thinking that would not be that great for low light ?
