    Havalon Knife

Just curious to who on here uses a Havalon knife for skinning?
And what's the best model for that purpose? I am just looking at getting a new skinning knife as mine don't want to keep an edge. Saw them at cabelas in Saskatoon and they looked interesting.
So what's everyone's thoughts and opinions?
    Thanks

I just picked one up and used it on some ducks. Razor sharp. Best knife I've used for ducks. Hopefully I'll get to test it on some big game too.

Go slow until you get used to the blade strength.

Pretty sure about 90% of people here have one.

They're great. Especially if you're lazy like me and hate sharpening knives. New blade on in 10 seconds ... good to go.

I still pack a beefier knife though especially on alpine trips... something that can be used to chop down some branches and other heavy camp work that the havalon never could

I've been using the Havalon Paranta for about five years now. All I can say is it is simply unbelievable how well they work. The only issue I have is that when my hands are cold, wet, slippery with blood I need to use my small multitool(pliers) to change the blade. I could see a nasty accident happening if I slipped replacing a blade. That said the only time I've broken a blade is twisting it around the knee joint trying to free up a leg. I had one blade this year do two deer before it became noticeably dull. I leave all my other bigger knives at home now and just bring this and a small Puma folding knife for camp chores.

I tried the Havalon but I find the blades break to easy so switched to the outdoor edge, a bit sturdier construction.

Love mine. Couldn’t imagine life without it.

FYI they are sharp. I got 5 stitches from skinning my buck on Monday. Totally dumb move on my part...
