    Swarovski spotter - 65mm - 25-50x wide angle vs 20-60x

Anyone here use both eye pieces that could recommend one over the other for hunting (back packing for moose, mulie's, elk etc)?

I have the 20-60 and wished I had picked the wide angle for sure.

At higher power mirage kicks in pretty hard. In my opinion only, I think the useful power range maxes out around 40 ish. I think that for general purpose hunting the wider field of view at lower magnification would be a better bang for the buck. This is for the 65 HD. I'm not sure if the 85 would have the same problem.

When I bought my 65mm Swaro, the guy selling it recommended the 25-50 wide angle. Told me the optics were better than the 20-60. Took his advice and have been pleased with the eyepiece.

Have you guys used both? I was seeing guys on the birding forums complaining about a finicky eye relief on the 25 to 50 wide angle... but general consensus seemed towards the wide angle as better vs the 20-60x

I’ve used both. Side by side. And no question the 25-50 is way better. It’s Brighter and clearer, and the 20-60 feels like you’re looking thru a tunnel compared to the WA. And I believe there would be few conditions when the additional 10 power magnification of the 20-60 would actually be useful due to mirage as others have said.

One last thing, the wide angle eyepiece actually has a wider field of view at 25x than the 20-60 at 20 power, so there’s no benefit on the low end either.

So, go with the wide angle without hesitation and don’t sweat the extra $$ for a second.

    Hi Timberjack,

thanks for the advice, I appreciate it. I'm going to be looking for a 25-50x eye piece model, your review reinforced what I read on the birding forums.
I haven't bought yet, I'm just selling a couple last guns/scopes to put the money towards this. Hoping to have it by November so I can use on a 4pt buck only hunt.
