Fishing Vacation.....8 species caught!!
So for the first time in 28 years of working, i took 2 whole weeks off all at once! Man, I shoulda done that sooner!! Spent the majority of time at our cabin on Quesnel lake, with a quick trip to prince rupert for 2 days on the ocean with a buddy in the middle of the vacation. Managed to land 8 different species of fish, including 3 personal best fish, and one species I have never caught before.
So on the rupert trip I caught halibut, pinks, coho, and springs. Highlights for me were a great fight with an 11 lb coho with linebacker shoulders, and landing a really nice 35# spring (personal best).
Fishing on quesnel lake was streaky....went out one morning and boated 12 char and 6 rainbows in 6 hours of fishing....next day, hardly a nibble all day....kinda went on like that on and off all week. from Quesnel lake I managed to boat kokanee, rainbows, char and even a bull trout! Sorry for the crappy pics of the rainbow and bull trout, but I was by myself and only had them out of the water to snap one quick pic before reviving/releasing.
Highlights of the week for me were....
4 lb bull trout....first bull I've ever caught. Released
11 lb rainbow (personal best). Released
16 lb char, not my biggest ever, but my biggest from Quesnel Lake
All in all, other than the smokey conditions, a very enjoyable vacation!!
