I have been borrowing my hunting buddies rifle the last couple hunting seasons. I finally bought my own. After some research and handling different rifles within in my price range I settled on a .308 Ruger American with a Cabelas 3x12x40 scope.

Good choice! I've taken the vast majority of my animals, from coyotes to moose with a 308 Win.
I won't always be young, but I can be immature forever
Good luck with it!
Great caliber for hunting bc!
congrats
Very nice rifle and a good all around caliber.
doesnt matter what kind of bullet it is, as long as it weighs 180 grains its DEADLY, even on ass shots....Todbartell-2009
My first hunting rifle was a .308 I don't use that gun anymore but often think about buying a .308 again
Congratulations! Hard to go wrong with a .308.
Have you taken it to the range yet and put it through it's paces?
308 is terribly boring and terribly effective for most things you need to do with a rifle.
