    range finders for archery

Rangefinders with the capability of compensating for the degree of up or downhill yardage, especially important
for bowhunters, have been around for a few years now...has anyone used them, and if so, how well do they work?
What unit would you recommend that doesn't break the bank?

100% worth it and a good quality one works great! angle compensation is just as important for rifle hunters in steep terrain. example a steep uphill 400 yard shot will shoot more like 375 yards which is the difference between a dead animal and that bullet going way over its back

I have an older model bushnell that has a setting to compensate for angles. To be honest, I never use it. But I do most of my bowhunting these days from treestands. I always just shoot the horizontal distance from the base of my tree to the animal.

That said, if were hunting from the ground and taking steep uphill shots, I can see its value as judging the horizontal distance can be tough

Ive had a bushnell "Chuck adams" model for many years, wasnt too pricey, hasnt let me down. It does make big difference ranging in hilly terrain and long shots, would be very useful in a sheep hunting situation. It calculates the angle out to 100yds range out to 700 or so.

Bushnell legend 1200 arc.works out to 99 yards with the arc.and works very well for longer range rifle shooting

    Ditto.
Can switch from Bow to Rifle mode in a heartbeat.
Both incorporate the ARC system, and it works.
Figured why have one for the bow and another for the rifle.
This unit covers both applications very well.

    Cheers,

I like the Leupold, now an RX1600i that had TBR, which is angle correction. Was the 1000, then the 1200 and they now have a 1600 yard laser in them (on reflective targets, figure 1/2 that in the field). They are a heck of an archery rangefinder as well as fine for rifle use too.

They have made those for years there called your eyes and your judgement. I hunted with a for a long time and never found a mechanical device that worked better than what God gave you. When your shot is from 15 to 40 yards in most cases from a blind. If you need range finders you should give up.
