    If you're walking any kind of distance I would say the 3.0-3.5 mm but if you're not walking very far and going to be in the water lots I would go for the heavier 5.0 mm. Later in the season the 5.0 mm would be warmer.

    if your going to walk you will wear out the heels in a season.

    Would you recommend the stocking style waders, if I do a lot of walking?

    I am on my second set of Cabelas Super Mags and could not recommend them enough. Super warm and very durable. My first pair lasted nine or ten years and I was averaging ~50 days a year waterfowling.
