Went out to scope the Fraser the other day for sockeye spots and the boy and I got into a nest of cutties in the Harrison as they were feeding on stickleback fry. We were just trying for some pike minnows but were pleased by what we found.

6 more Sockeye today! (between 3 of us) my son caught the biggest one.

    Love this thread!

My kids and I have had a pretty good fishing year. Here's one of my son and me with a Chinook he landed last month. We use all barbless, so there's not a lot of room for error, but he's learned to keep his rod tip up, keep the line tight, let it run, and reel fast when it's coming at you. I could watch him slay salmon all day long.

Of course, small fish are fun too. This one is particularly significant, because this is the first fish he caught all on his own: by himself he took my 12 foot boat with the electric motor out, and got this little guy without sinking, tangling or loosing any gear. Not bad for a 12 year old.

My daughter doesn't yet have a lot of patience for fishing, although we did get her into some Kokanee earlier this season. Still, she loves catch-and-release dock fishing, so I have high hopes for the future.
