    Everyone should comment— link attached

Who actually knows if they will listen, but in my opinion it’s worse if you don’t have your say.
Last thing we need is more comments from NGOs than from the hunting crowd

Might as well. Takes a few minutes out of your day.

    Absolutley!

We'd better speak up or this could go the way of the grizzly bear hunt.

Here is the link to all the chapters: https://engage.gov.bc.ca/wildlifeandhabitat/ The link above was for chapter 2 and not sure if some people would miss clicking the home icon to view all the chapters they want us to comment on. I left the first comment in Additional Questions and will add more to each chapter as time permits. I think we have till the end of July to submit our comments. Lets do this people!!

I think the title of this thread needs to be altered to grab more attention. It's of the utmost importance

Absolutely! I just looked at it out of curiousity and commented on all three and forwarded to everyone I know. Thanks for posting it.

Dated May 22...why have we not seen any news of this yet from the BCWF ? Would have thought they would be aware of this before the release due to apparent consultation going on and be prepared to update members. Perhaps I missed announcement....if so my apologies. If not, I’m surprised simply due to the scale of this.

Hi all , hers what I responded.
So that we can all learn please post your replies here as well.

a reminder- this is not the post to have the silly infighting that makes this forum frustrating at times. We have to be. United....

    my response......

My first suggestion is that we need to put more weight on the input from active and real uses of our backcountry over bc residents who are "not" also active users . A city based resident who only holds lofty philosophical goals should not trump a resident who is also an active backcountry user. Ie a person who never gets out there grandstanding against hunting fishing camping hiking provides a skewed and irrelevant view of backcountry use. Listen to the hunting fishing trapping community , as well as commercial users and consider the impact from their perspective.

Involve stakeholders like hunting fishing trapping, but also give them weight over other groups who exist merely to oppose them step for step

Governance. Establish and listen to active ( real) user groups who are already here. Note that hunting, fishing , trapping are not resource extractors we also contribute to conservation- so that we can protect what we love. Much like a gardener tends to his garden he also protects it so that one day he can pick them harvest from It.

^^^ Your suggestion is right on the mark.

For too long the real "stakeholders" have been dismissed as not qualified to provide input. In fact most of them understand more about the habitat and ecosystems than the "experts". Not that the experts' work is unimportant. It's just that it's been my experience that they are so focused on their particular area of study that they don't see the big picture at all.

...The real users of the backcountry do...and they should have input.

"Wildlife management decisions need to be based on science and decisions from local biologists rather than “social acceptance” or “the number of” internationally sourced emotionally driven emails from special interest groups as arrogantly admitted when the grizzly hunt was banned. Please stop treating wildlife management as a political football for perceived short term popularity wins."
