How To Cut Salt Blocks

I set my skill-saw so it would cut one inch deep I marked the salt block in the center with a black marker pen then cut around the block then used a hatchet to put in the middle of the block then hit it with a 4 pound hammer cut the block in half so sweet.. ..

I did that a few years ago too and my saw was never the same afterwards. The salt ended up in the motor and buggered up the centrifugal switch for the start capacitor.

LOL I found that out as well so when I cut the blocks now I put masking tape over the motor to protect it won't hurt the saw for this short time then when finished I wash all the salt dust off the saw with my garden hose never had any problems with my saw after 3 years doing this ,,I take the tape off after I have finished cutting and washing the saw..

If you shoot them and break the block into smaller pieces the salt won't last as long,,one solid block last way longer..

I cut a 1/8" score line with a hacksaw. Put it in a bench vise at the line. Put a 2x4 above to distribute impact and whack it with a hammer.
