Re: Barrett Fieldcraft - Lightweight Hunting Rifles

Just a little update on the Barrett Fieldcraft rifles: I spent considerable time handling one today...I couldn't resist. The fit and finish on these rifles is remarkable, from the crispness of the engraving on the receiver, to the fluting and smoothness of the bolt, the sharp break of the Timney trigger, and the surprisingly tactile feel of the stock. We put the 6.5 CM on the scale and it comes in at 5.3 lbs. Anyone who knows me is aware that I'm not fond of blind-box setups (I prefer magazines) however this beauty has me re-evaluating that paradigm.

Looking forward to some range reports on these babies!

    Cheers,

I was looking for one of these for a while and ended up buying a 6.5 mountain ascent. That mountain ascent is going up for sale for this one.

I've been drooling over these since I learned they were coming out. Want want want does not equal need. My Mark V 270 is hard to give away - even for one of these.

I’ve been very interested since they came out. Went as far as contacting Wolverine but theirs were being held in customs at the time and then I never pulled the trigger. Currently liquidating a few others to make room. 6.5 or .308 will be a dilemma? Is 5.3 lbs the shorter 18” heavier barrel?

5.3 lbs is for the 6.5 Creedmoor, with 21" barrel.

    21" barrel..
There are quite a few guys that post on 24hrCampfire that have these rifles and they appear to be very accurate..
Another thing Barrett's S/A has around a 3" mag. box so it will accommodate long high B.C. bullets and they are twisted right..
