This may be a stupid question...

I have 5 tags that never got used from last year. would they still be valid until the end of 2018? or did they expire march 31st?

They expired Mar 31, just like your 2017/2018 hunting license. You need 2018/2019 tags now.

But you did use them. They allowed you to hunt for that specific critter.
Whether you killed or not, whether you hunted or not, they were a permit to do so.
