I drove into my spot before light and didn't see much for tracks and nothing fresh. But wasn't too surprised. It was my first time into this spot this year. And for the past 3 years wolves seem to have the deer pushed out. I spotted an older track crossing the road and heading into the area I have wondered through more than a few times. I parked the truck, Loaded up my gear and headed into the brush. I picked my way through the poplars finding several rubs and a fresh track. I knew the area he was heading into so I decided to keep along my usual route. I was walking through the bottom of a small hill with a bench just above me. I kept thinking to myself, this looks like a spot I could stumble across a buck. It wasn't 5 minutes later I looked up and had a buck staring in my direction. I don't think he saw me at first which gave me the chance to count 4 on his left side. Good enough for me! Safety off and squeezed the trigger. He hunched and bolted, but I felt confident about the shot. It was around 80 yards. I walked up to where he was standing and could see him piled up 20 yards away. I walked up to him and just stood there for a few minutes just taking it all in. What a beautiful Buck I thought to myself. Took a few photos. Made the phone call home with good news. Then got to work.

If someone could make the photos visible that would be great!
