    introducing pronghorns

I have a crazy idea , why don't we have pronghorns in the dry interior between Cache Creek and Kamloops , Spences Bridge to Merritt
I wonder if that would work ?

Yes that would be a good idea.
Nothing is like climbing a mountain, and then feeling like you are at the top of the world.

There is no where in BC that looks like anywhere I've seen pronghorns. They really like the open country. It is a crazy idea. I suspect they wouldn't last very long.

They would likely be trapped in the valley and be easy pickings for the wolves? Wonder how the local vegetation would fair.

Look into the distances they migrate that alone would be a huge factor

Let's worry about the animals already here before we start thinking about how an introduced species might fair?

I'm not a fan of messing with nature's plan. Might be different if the hills were littered with old pronghorn bones but if they haven't been there in the past I think we should be focused on solving other problems rather than contemplating a species introduction.

^^^^ this. The idea creates nostalgic images of chasing prairie goats across open hillsides, but if there is one thing I have learned in following fish and wildlife, it is that introductions of a foreign, non native organism, will have unpredictable effects that are not good. Ex. mysis shrimp in interior lakes. Deer on Haida Gwaii, Rabbits followed by weasels in New Zealand. Possums in ....... the list goes on. We have enough difficulty managing the native fauna. Lets work harder on that.

There was a time I thought all parties that cared for wildlife and habitat conservation could find common ground. I was wrong. Adapt....
