Stone Glacier tent preorder - $595

its finally on their site ... for pre-orders at $595.

under 5lb .... not bad for a 4 season tent.
You can tell by the 92" length it was designed by a tall guy lol.
Door seems kinda small though ....

    picky, picky, picky

I just spoke with Pete at SG, very polite and helpful chap. I am going to buy one to fit between my Hilleberg Saivo and Niak, as they are too dark for hot weather use.

I find a two man tent like that is to cramped for two men on an extended Sheep Hunting backpack trip, I went with a Hilleberg Nallo GT 3 man,

We were in for 12 days this August and it was a perfect size for 2 of us, if their tents are anywhere as good as a Hilleberg or as good as their packs they should be first class.

looks sweet, nice and long which is a bonus. Weight is pretty good too. I think ill opt for one of their shiny new packs instead though

Hmmm..... that's a little too similar to be a coincidence. Wonder what the full story there is.

Makes sense ... if you're a guy getting into the tent game with no tent building experience. Better to do that then end up with some overpriced, leaky tent like Kuiu.

I'm not anti-Kuiu. They make some good gear like clothes and packs. But next tent or sleeping bag i buy is still going to be from a company that's been at it for a long time.

Which should probably be pretty soon, because when i bought my last tent from Mountain Hardware 5lb and change was considered lightweight. A friend recently picked up the MSR Freelite 2. Seems spacious enough, weighs under 3lb all in, and seems to be getting pretty good reviews. Not a 4 season tent, but seems ideal for early season alpine hunts that I do. The only problem is, i no longer see it on the MSR website. Has it been discontinued? hmmm.
