    Crossbow in my future.

With bursitis in both shoulders and a right elbow that will not fully extend, it was time to relinquish my compound bow to someone who would use it. It got so bad that I had difficulty holding full draw even with 85% letoff.

I have decided that a crossbow would be an alternative and so the search began.

I eliminated Barnett and Excalibur from the list along with Mung king or fu king and settled on Carbon Express and Centerpoint. At this point, I don't want to pay a king's ransom and am looking at entry level 'bows. CenterPoint Sniper appeals to me, but the Carbon Express X-Force has my eye as it is 4" shorter than the former.

I am in no rush at the moment so I will continue to do due diligence as I become familiar with other offerings from these manufacturers.

If you have some ideas, suggestions, feel free to post them. I'd appreciate that.

Cool Re: Crossbow in my future.

Crossbows are no different than rifles, shotguns or compound bows in that you generally get what you pay for.
I would not personally recommend a "entry level" crossbow to anyone.
Get the best you can afford, and be pleased with the superior performance a few extra sheckles affords.

    Entry level?

    Carbon Express X-Force Advantex Crossbow

    or
CenterPoint Archery AXCSP185CK Specialist XL 370

blacklab, your's a recurve? I do want to stay away from a recurve. Personal preference.

Yep. I consider both of those bows to be "entry level" and suggest if you go with either, you purchase a bow press (or have a bow shop next door).

Saw your reference to personal preference for no recurves.
My personal preference, having used crossbows for some time now, is recurve first.
Simple. Can work on yourself (requires no press). Accurate. Powerful. And by far The Best Warranty in the business.
    Obviously your mileage may very...

I have the Excalibur Matrix 380. Fast, powerful and extremely accurate. Not many working parts. Easy to use and change a string in the field if you have to. Easy to shoot. Easy to teach someone to shoot. Love my Excalibur!

I have an Excalibur exo max, I can't shoot broadheads at the same bullseye @ 50yds, they are pinpoint accurate!
I've wrecked enough broadheads to know not to use the previous bolt as a target.
I see you said no recurve, but as stated, easy to work on, and a very good warranty.
Borrow one if you get the chance.

The only thing I really don't like about a crossbow, is they can get a bit cumbersome to move around sometimes, other than that, they work great for us screwed up shoulder guys. Haha
