I totally agree with all of this! The lake is Quesnel Lake. Nice lakers yes, but as wild one said.... cant be compared to many northern lakes.Those are nice lakers but nothing crazy (not insulting your fish Willyqbc) and I bet I know the lake
You need to check out some of the lakes up north for Lakers lol
Lots of lakes 20lbs Lakers are not unusual not a given but not lacking. Biggest I know of this summer was claimed to break 50lbs and seen some honest to god 35lbs+ Lakers this summer caught myself
As for age they are slow growers is all I know
That being said, i truly believe that in the depths of this lake there lives a population of deep dwelling crankers that come up to practical fishing depths very rarely. in 4 years of intensive fishing of this lake I have hooked but not landed 2 fish that felt like a decent halibut....both hooked below 500'. I suspect to have success on these deep dwellers requires a very very specific technique....just havent quite worked it out yet...but I'm workin on it!
