    Porta Bote

I am looking at these as an option for a fly in hunt. Does anyone use them? If so what are your thoughts?

    Thanks
    Chuck

Chuck, my buddy Wayne has had one for years and loves it.
To the best of my knowledge he has had no issues at all.
However, I think he uses it strictly for fishing, not hunting.
I’ll ask him about it next time we talk.
Lord, Please help me to become half the man my Dog thinks I am..

I have one, flat back, 10' that I use for fishing. Fits up the center of my travel trailer when folded up. I can stand up to cast in it comfortably now but it did take a bit of getting used to the flexible bottom. I love the thing. Fit 8 full grown men in it once and it didn't sink....almost did......we didn't go much past the dock.....but held a lot more weight than I expected.great little boat.

I have a twelve foot one. Great to use when space is limited. Made some extra bracing for the transom and hang a 9.9 off it. Can squeeze 30km/h out of it on good water.

Most of the shorter ones will fit in a Caravan or an Otter without too much trouble. They are an easy external load for a Beaver or an Otter with external load kit installed.

I strap an 11' to the struts on the 185. Flys much better than a canoe. My boats 30 years old, rubbers still good. Like mentioned above I beefed up the transom and use a 2hp outboard.

Not a porta boat though, can't remember the name made in Quebec I think.

We used a 12 ft one in Cry Lake and Dall Lake with a 4 hp Merc. We had a moose, 1/4 caribou and 3 men in it. Not much freeboard. Stayed close to shore.
