Had a buddy that walked up on a sleeping cat last october...he was just curled up under a fir tree...no ledge no branch, just on the ground. I would love to find one with a tag and no dogs one day, what a story that would be.

Ive tried it on snow shoes, not easy. Farthest I followed a track was 9km then it crossed a highway and I could only look on. It knew I was following, it looped back three times over my tracks and kept looking at its back trail, tracks showed it would stop and turn slightly. followed a couple lynx too and gotten close, found half eaten rabbits twice still steaming so atleast I got some lunch but still no cats.
Find track, follow. That's it basically. Calling is difficult but not unheard of

Cats are supposed to be sneaky unlike coyotes or bears when youre wailin on a call
Heres one that came in on an ecaller, try to spot the cougar haha, it is visible at 29 seconds.
See do exactly that....buuuuuttt have my ass in a treestand lol...normally hunt solo lol.
The only shitty thing about shooting a cat that isn't treed is it's tough to know if it's female without being able to look for balls.
Most guys don't see enough cats to know just by looking.
look when there dead as too many out there
Thank you all for the tips.
Not much of action happened. I found the elk....hang around them and called like a mad man
That was that
