    Re: S/B Ram

First off...just so there is no confusion...I am not trying to argue, as I know there are some who have way
more experience/knowledge on sheep and aging then I.
I am just trying to educate myself as to where I am wrong in "my own thinking"...okay..
I will post link from Sheep society on aging.
As for post 18....I get it....5 and 6th space should be larger/wider for that years growth....got it.
But, if I look at the S/S pdf...rams # 3 and 4, who are both 9 year olds....

To me when I compare them to this ram...both there spacing's between year 5 and 6 don't seem that large either.

I understand the sickness/lack of nutrition as factors for sometimes have a "shorter year growth".
Just trying figure out "what it is I am seeing"...lol....that is in fact...."not there".
I know it is easy by some, and it appears to be me as well, that you can have "false looking annuli", which
can cause the confusion....which is obviously causing the confusion for me.
So, if someone can add further why the 6th ring I have drawn is not a 6th, I would love to hear it...to understand.
Yes, doesn't help that it is a photo, and I forgot to remove a "filter" on it, which does not help the sharpness,
and he was quite some distance away....binoculars would have given better results for sure, to decipher that
what I am seeing (6th annuli).
What is it about the 6th that I am seeing(other then growth distance from 5th to 6th, that others see as not...and why...if possible)
What else can I look at, at that ring, to determine it is not an actual annuli, but a "false one".
If not, no worries...I don't intend on hunting sheep by age anyways or anytime soon...lol...
And I do know someone, who for many years, especially when he lived in Kamloops. went just about every
weekend up to Lyton/Spences to hunt them with his partner, so I know he could give me some "hands on" info...
except for the fact he lives in Vernon now, and I live down in Vancouver, so we never see each other.

Any help is appreciated.....better then arguing over Regs/restrictions and government crap.

    Link for pdf...I hope??

Great article Bugle M In...But the original picture posted probably is not clear enough to make the 6th year designation acurately...I thought 5 years old myself...Dennis

okay...could be that the photos don't help...
when I look at the pdf, it's pretty simple.....I don't even have to cheat and look at the answers 1st.
But, they are good "close up" photos, and doubt many get that close out in the field, plust the contrast of the
photos is good, because there is "no hair" to muddle the photos up etc.
This is what I see...on top of the previous sent already....
Can't hurt for me and others to understand better.......just don't include me in the sheep counting/ageing agenda....
