I thought I'd post a couple more pictures. It's been a big job doing the butchering and the Euro mount myself, but fun as hell and I've learned a lot. Each time it gets easier (until I get a moose or elk, that is)

On the butcher table. Wild picture, eh?

You've been busy How did you finish off the skull Greenthumbed, simmer, peroxide? Looks like you did a good job and on the butchering enjoy the feasts.

    Re: Got my Buck!

    Hey Salty
i simmered the skull in baking soda and water. I then used an air compression to blow hot soap water through the skulls holes and crevices to get all the bits out and grease off. I then dried it by the woodstove over night with the intention to whiten it the next day with peroxide cream. I haven't bother to whiten it yet as I'm thinking it looks pretty darn good as is. I've also heard the peroxide can make the skull brittle. Don't know if I'll bother with that step.

The butchering was was a lot of work and I must admit it took me multiple evenings to complete. If I didn't have a good friend come over one evening to help I might still be at it.
