Looking For Info On New Zealand Hunt

I'm very interested in hunting in New Zealand and was curious if anyone in the HBC community has gone or has information regarding hunting there.

I had an awesome time on the South Island March/April 2015.

My wife and I , boys( 15 & 12) for a week with some hunting( Red Stag, fallow deer, feral goat, feral sheep, wallabies, rabbits)/hiking and fun.

5 days for me in the mountains, backpacking after Tahr and Chamois

    PM me if you want.

I’ve done two trips for tahr about $3,000 all up including flights. Great place very easy can do a DIY hunt. Lots of public land. Happy to help in any way.

3k including flights, just you??? Flights from Van to christchurch I'm finding for 2 people just over 4k.

Id like to go free range stag with my wife and was looking at NZ. But airline costs its almost better to go to Europe.

Anyone recommend any free range outfits in NZ?

Yep you bet. No outfitter, no tags as such, you are required to get a hunting license but it’s free. Rent a cheap car, bring all your own gear and drive out to the mountains and hunt. Not much need for it too be more expensive than flights. Fly in get to a chunk of public land with the game you want to pursue and start walking. There is no requirement to hunt in NZ other than showing your firearm license to the police in the airport and then getting a visitor firearm license for $25.00NZ. Bring exact change!

Happy to help anyone in any way like I’ve said I’ve done this and the first year I kept every single receipt. I know exactly what I spent. I also didn’t treat it as a holiday, I just treated it like any hunt, get to location and hunt.

Would love to be someone’s packhorse on a goat hunt.

Telford Fishing and Hunting does free-range red stag in New Zealand...great folks. There are some crazy good deals in Poland for red stag right now and you can also hunt fallow deer, mouflon and roe deer. If you are strictly looking at free range, you'd get a better stag in Poland as well plus flights are 50% the cost and distance. Downside is they don't have tahr.
