    Howling like a wolf

Wednesday just before sunrise morning my buddy and I were about to leave camp in Region 2 and head up into the hills on the logging roads and side spurs above our camp when a Rav4 or some other similar SUV scooted past the campsite and went up into the hills above us.

Shortly afterwards we heard what we thought was yelling at first, but then on listening again it seemed like they were trying to sound like wolves or coyotes or something.

We drove up shortly afterwards, buddy dropped me off at the access spot I was hiking from and he went off to his spot and we never saw that car or heard them again.

    Just couldn't figure it out.

If there's wolves in the area, they will usually respond or come to investigate.

There were wolves we heard on the other side of a steep narrow valley, but now on our side.

Heard from a cousin in the states that this is an ANTI-hunt tactic, drive into hunting area and howl for hours with the prospect that any game in area will turn tail and clear out for the time being. Weak!
