Hey Hunting BC family, I have only been big game hunting for a few years now, and went out to a new spot (for me) in Region 8 based on a recommendation of a family friend. Right away we saw tons of Elk and deer tracks and freshly used game trails, but very little droppings. I finally got high enough up on the mountain and found wolf sign everywhere - on almost every major game trail. I've never come across so much wolf sign, so as one would expect, we didn't see anything except for a pair of muley does all day.
Note: this area is not a single cutblock, but a 30km logging road with turn offs every 5km or so.
Any advice for hunting an area with a wolf presence?
Avoid cutblocks and get into the thick brush?
Will it push the animals lower or higher?
Or just pack it up and head home?
Odds are deer will be in the thick stuff and on alert higher than normal. You could still hunt them successfully but often I move on and hunt areas the deer will be less spooky
Or start hunting the wolves and push them out of your hunting area
