2017 Youth Mule Deer Hunt!

Anyone else get out today?? My dad and I connected with a spiker in region 3, super stoked! Unfortunately, this will be my last year as a 'youth'. Look forward to hearing about everyone else's hunts successful or not. Saw a ton of Fathers and Sons out which is always very nice to see! Again, thank you to the HBC Community for helping me out with preparing for this hunt and look forward to many more in the future!

Pretty slow out there for us. Seeing about 1/10 the deer we normally do.

Very hot in Region 8. Seen some youth hunters in the bush, always great to see next generation out there. Don't know of any bucks on the ground around here.

my grandson got a 2 point mulie yesterday...going to cut it up tonight and try for a whitetail tommorow .

I ventured out yesterday afternoon on a combined fishing/bow hunting expedition. Caught 4 brookies, saw a doe on the road in & stumbled around the lake a bit with the bow, but no joy for deer. Good thing actually, when I got home I realized I had left my deer tags on the washing machine.... doh!

Me and my son got out yesterday, blew a tire on a sharp rock around 5pm so that ended that days hunt. Got some grouse, and saw one buck through heavy brush and he couldn't get a shot off. Bumped a black bear at 10 yards on a skinny quad trail while we were walking, think it was just as surprised as we were and ran back into the brush. Also saw a doe and fawn.

Seeing far less sign of deer this year than last. Covered a total of 140km of road and glasses multiple clear cuts.
